Deftones – Minerva Lyrics 7 years ago
Here is my interpretation, this song refers to a breakup. If you veiw everything he sings through a sarcastic tone "i get all numb when she sings its over" the singing being yelling in an argument, "such a strange numb" is him sarcastically pretending to give a fuck.

"And god bless you all for the song, you saved us" "it could bring back peace to the earth"
This is him telling her that he's wanted to leave her anyway because all they do is fight.

Minerva is the godess of wisdom and war, probably also sarcasm, and then a reference to their own personal battles

You get the gist.

@shannonm9 The story of belshazzars feast/ the writing on the wall says that "God has numbered Belshazzar's days, he has been weighed and found wanting, and his kingdom will be given to the Medes and the Persians" belshazzar blasphemed god and could tie into the idea of someone finding their religious path since they know their days are numbered/because they fear death

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 7 years ago
I had an Idea that I dug a little further into and it might be a stretch but whatever..

In my interpretation the may queen is saint walpurges (an apostle from Devonshire who lead people down the path of Christ, on one of her travelled with her brothers to assist St Bonaface into evangelizing Germany which at the time was a pagan country- what christians consider to be a threat to their religion) Saint Walpurges day is celebrated 30th April to the 1st May celebrating the "ridding of pests, witchcraft and disease" the pied piper is essentially someone who practices witchcraft and also at one point rid Germany of pests"..hence. "If theres a bustle in your hedgerow" maybe tied into the idea of a rat infestation/also tied into the pestering ideas in one's mind then "it's just a spring clean for the may queen" the same mentality religious people express repress, repress, repress )

Now I believe that if this information was tied to the song then, the pied piper is representative of a pagan witch (magic pipe?) who turned on the people (in the tale his act was a very conditional act of kindness some may see walpurges as "buying a stairway to heaven" or the opposite but regardless they're similar), so the pied piper lured children in with music (which christians would see as tantamount devil worship) and the path of "evil" as some christians would put it..

So maybe this whole thing is representative of the religious war of christianity in ones mind and whether it's through ones own kindness or through fear of going to hell or maybe just the former... I think with what I've stated the rest becomes self explanatory in how I would interpret it based on past information.

"There's a sign on the wall"
Could refer to the religious story of the writing on the wall that says "have your gifts for yourself and your rewards for another"
"But she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings"

"In a tree by the brook
There's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiving"
As she ponders near the tree by the brook about her decisions she has an apithony that she shouldn't let her doubt get in the way of her path.

"When I look to the west and my spirit is crying for leaving" RP is fearing the once provailant Christianity in the west since both the piper and Walpurges were set in the middle ages.
"In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who standing looking"
His mind has sprung warning signs, and how everyone is watching his slow fall into decadence

"The pipers calling you to join him"
Satan is trying to pull you in.
"Our shadows taller than our soul"
How what you chose to live your life by "casts a long shadow"
Walpurges "shines white light and wants to show how every thing turns to gold" guiding us through her path, with her "white light" you can reach heaven.

"The tune will come to you at last"
How we will all meet out fate due to the decisions we've made
"To be a rock and not to roll"
To finally be dead.

Regardless of whether this is far from the truth I found it really fun to find deeper meaning in the speculation I had.
