This is going along with some of the aforementioned theories. The pieces of art may be likened to the lives of celebrities, which are glorified and seen as "the best way to live" to those who may be envious of the lifestyles. We also see most famous people's lives publically, just as most art museums are public. Once you're in an industry, take music for example, you don't always know what your're getting into. Perhaps the captain in the rowboat stands for the celebrities themselves. The fact that he is facing waves (difficulties or trials) with worry and concern can be likened to the idea that when you become famous you aren't exactly sure what's going to happen to you. You have a basic understanding but you don't know if you may be the next piece of a scandal or the next huge rumor. You may also have to face your problems with the media poking into your business, which is daunting for many. The captain tries to row away in his rowboat, but he likely knows he has no chance. Sometimes people just want temporary fame but don't realize what they're getting into. They try to leave but it's too late, they're trapped in fame. Even with those who want to be famous, sometimes they realize it isn't for them but they can't leave. Unfortunately, "the most special are the most lonely". We look at their lives and fill ourselves with jealousy but there are struggles they have that we don't know about, things that aren't actually public. We forget they have personal lives just like we do and we don't understand that being famous isn't all fun and games. ~Thanks for reading |
