At least to me seems to be a song expressing thier disdain for the current pop culture climate refering to it as "narcissistic" and "sick" - "Where we choose pride over character" - "How many likes is my life worth?" - "Where we desensitize by hysteria" While they also admit to being a part of this and perpetuating this culture themselves as they are one of the biggest pop artists as of recent, they express their contempt for this by refering to it as a "prison" - "Make no mistake, I live in a prison, That I built myself, it is my religion" - "I am the, I am the, I am the sick boy" I normaly i dont listen to The Chainsmokers but all in all i think its a really decent song showing alot of self awarenss and maturity. |
