| Bon Iver – The Wolves (Act I and II) Lyrics | 4 years ago |

This song is about the time you're faced with after you lose someone. It starts off with spite; wishing someone as much pain as they have caused you. Hoping they feel the regret they should from losing you. Then it turns into being lost in a game of wolves. Being so used to the comfort of one person, having to start anew with dating can feel like you're being circled by wolves. Even though you feel like you're moving forward, every set back reminds you of the relationship that put you there in the first place, i.e. "Solace my game, it stars you." Finally, it ends with the unrequitedness that is all love lost. Wishing and wondering if it could have been while the "story's all over you," aka the story of getting over someone with other people. |

This song is about reliving the moment you missed your chance with someone. To me, it's the constant battle you have in your head with that person after the war is done. The "What Ifs," or, "Should Have Said Thats." He's constantly asking how heavy his words are, as if he can't believe it, himself. Like, after all this time, there's still this huge elephant in the room that he can't seem to talk about, and while he's busy trying to find the words, his partner is busy leaving him because if it. |

You don't won't understand this song until you've experienced it, first hand. This song is about the moment you realize how strong you've become. Sitting across from a person who you thought ruined your emotional state... scarred you for life and realizing that you barely remember their name and that scar was just a "fleck," ... it's amazing. Thinking someone means the world to you, mourning their loss in whatever way it might have been, and going on with life so much so that you almost completely forget that this jarring experience even happened is what this song is about. And, again, you won't understand until you've experienced it. |
