It is about him drowning. It's a common theme in all his music up until he drown via suicide. The clotheless animal is the ocean, the struggle is him wrestling with drowning. Lungs bust, last taste of salt, ripping him apart (the waves) the dark shapes below The girl has driven him into the ocean, he's swam until he can see land and it now battling as he faces death from the ocean. The song after this begins before is about swimming out to sea and the song after is about laying in a grave, so tired, after this struggle. |
