The song is about suicide In the first verse, the singer is so depressed lonely after losing his girlfriend that he's stopped eating and cut off his friends. Now he is about to hang himself with his ex's undergarments. In the second verse, he asks "When you think of me/ am I the best you ever had " which is something an ex would say at a funeral "Share one more drink with me/ smile even though you're sad" is something that an ex would do at a wake. In the chorus, he talks about a "lifetime of laughter/ at the expense of the death of a bachelor" In other words, he is SO depressed he believes everyone he knows will take pleasure in his passing. The song sounds romantic, but is incredibly dark. Pure brilliance |
