R.E.M. – Losing My Religion Lyrics 5 years ago
I think @[TasChiBandGirl:33609] has it somewhat right. If you watch or listen to REM unplugged on MTV when they play losing my religion, Michael points at the crowd and said this song is about you. (Fans, the public at large) Now this is a time when Michael sexuality was being questioned in the media and I believe this is his response to people making a big deal out of it. Perhaps some anger at fan’s that were homophobic etc.

So many of these lines can easily relate to one’s sexuality.

“ you are not me”
“Oh no I’ve said too much”
“The lengths that I will go to” (to hide it)
“ I thought that I heard you laughing“ (perhaps at a gay joke). I thought that I heard you sing (you’re laughing at gay jokes but you’re singing my songs)”
“Every whisper of every waking hour I’m choosing my confessions trying to keep an eye on you like a hurt lost and blinded fool fool oh no I’ve said too much I’ve set it up”

In my opinion, this song is about Michael Stipe’s relationship with his sexuality and the public, maybe specifically his fans.

Public Enemy – Harder Than You Think Lyrics 7 years ago
To me this song clearly goes after gangsta rap and takes on NWA directly. (F the police reference). Also while at the end he promotes PE (PE 20 years), earlier he addresses (possibly) what’s left of NWA (Dre, Cube, et al) they they’re

“Screamin' gangsta 20 years later
Of course endorsed while consciousness faded
New generations believing them fables”

Essentially saying they’re still spitting gangsta while signing endorsements for big money all the while the consciousness of their initial message (of institutional racism and the subsequent life it created for them)has been lost.
