He is at his cousin's house and someone loved is comming by train. But, summers, when he can see this loved one are Always slipping away "A 60 ton angel falls to the earth A pile of old metal, a radiant blur" The train comes "Scars in the country, the summer and her Always the summers are slipping away Find me a way for making it stay" Double meaning. "scars in the country" as literaly the train tracks on land or the sentimental scars that this "summer and her" situation leaves on him "When I hear the engine pass I'm kissing you wide The hissing subsides I'm in luck" When the train leaves the station, he is still kissing her. What is nice, because she is not in the leaving train, as she will briefly. "When the evening reaches here You're tying me up I'm dying of love It's OK" Later that day, on evening, he is more tied in love with her. It will end and he will feel dying? Yeah, but it's ok. |

| Porcupine Tree – A Smart Kid Lyrics | 7 years ago |
| Someone is the last survivor on earth. He is a sarcastic guy. Earth is wasted, everybody died but hey, there's no crowds and everything is now free. He is hopless and fantasizing aliens comming to rescue him e what he would say "there was a war, I must have won" (sarcastic again). He is waiting for this. He doesnt have anything else to do, alone in the universe | |
| Porcupine Tree – Stranger By The Minute Lyrics | 7 years ago |
|
"Ghosts in the park Appear just after dark Killers, children ... But no-one has a harp They look like tourists It makes me want to laugh" Dude completely crazy kills or hijacks children at a park Kids looks lost, and he enjoys it? Or he does something else with the kids that make they "look like tourists". "Under floorboards It's hard to fly a kite" He is thinking about the kids he imprisons under his house and the innocence he is taking away from them. "Underwater My cigarette won't light" His mind gets to a way to stop this "Standing in the shade I'm getting frostbite" He is currently standing in the shadows, to attack someone "Strange as I seem I'm getting stranger by the minute Look in my dreams They're getting stranger by the minute" He realizes he is getting crazier and crazier. "When I'm drowning He tries to commit suicide "You drag me up to you" He thinks he is getting saved by someone "Rings in the water My only residue" Scene description. Just rings in the water. But they could mean he drowned (is submerged) as much as that he was pulled up from the water (and rings in the water would be what ramains in both cases). "But you're just fiction And I'm a twisted boy" But here's the resoluction. There's no savior, what he imagined pulling him up is just a fiction. He wiill drown and die, and he is a twisted boy - who deserves it, anyway. |

| Porcupine Tree – Don't Hate Me Lyrics | 7 years ago |
|
"A light snow is falling on London All sign of the living has gone The train pulls into the stations And no one gets off and no-one gets on" Setting the cenario. Late night, no one on the streets. "Don't hate me I'm not special like you I'm tired and I'm so alone" Someone tired of being not noticed. "Don't fight me" He's attacking someone on that night. "I know you'll never care" Justification, he think the person deserves it because he or she would never care about him. "Can I call you on the telephone, now and then?" Dude is crazy, all he wanted is company. "One light burns in a window Someone turn on the lights inside a house. "It guides all the shadows below Inside the ghost of a parting" The light cast the shadows of the murder being commited. "And no one is left, just the cigarette smoke" But it's too late, just the cigarette smoke of the victim is left. |

| Porcupine Tree – Pure Narcotic Lyrics | 7 years ago |
|
Could be about relationships, but to me could be a somewhat autistic dude: "You keep me waiting You keep me alone in a room full of friends You keep me hating You keep me listening to the Bends No amount of pointless days Can make this go away" He is bored with his every day life, waiting (for doctors, maybe?), in groups of "friends" to interact, but still feeling alone. No amount of that repetition will cure him - make it go away. "You have me on my knees You have me listless and deranged You have me in your pocket You have me distant and estranged No narcotics in my brain Can make this go away" He is feeling hopeless and accept the suggestion of taking narcotics for his problems. But they make him just distant and stranged, numb. The absence of narcotics in his brain could make this go away... "I'm sorry that, I'm sorry that I'm not like you I worry that I don't act the way you'd like me to" Pretty literal "You find me wanting You find me bloodless but inspired You find me out You find me hallucinating fire No narcotics in my brain Can make this go away" He gets another medication (maybe?), but the effects aren't what the person who gave it to him desired. There is no ammount of narcotics in his brain that could make him better. "Have we ever been here before? Running headlong at the floor Leave me dreaming on a railway track Wrap me up and send me back" He can't stand life anymore. Everything looks the same over and over again e he just doesn't fit. Leave him dreaming on a railway track so he can die. |
