Such a beautiful song. I feel the person is looking at his younger brother while thinking of how hard life can get sometimes. He sees his brother still without worries and says "I've never felt so enlightened, with every page I turn I only find myself feeling more alone". He stresses that the darkness will come someday in your life and you'll have nowhere to go but to embrace that that's sometimes the way things go. While getting older, you might lose hope sometimes. But then the song takes a shift, the music starts getting more wild and I feel he looks at him and thinks: but when I look at you, I realize there's so much to live for, so much to hope for. It feels like looking at him gives him hope again and he prays that his brother would always keep that hope: "guard your hope with your life". Simply amazing. |
