Seven Mary Three – Water's Edge Lyrics 1 year ago
An obvious turn on the movie "River's Edge" released years prior to the song. A man sees his girlfriend immediately before she is kidnapped and taken away in a van. She does not survive and the man is consumed by his fear and powerlessness to do anything about what happened.

Walter Egan – Magnet And Steel Lyrics 4 years ago
So Walter was smitten with Stevie Nicks, wrote a song about her and even got her to sing backup on the song. A step in the right direction perhaps. Compose a song about what you know. But if this is the only memorable song from a career, well, that is a bit tough. The music business is a tough mistress.

Semisonic – Closing Time Lyrics 7 years ago
I am late to the game I know. The song has been around for what, 20 years now. My kids loved this song and, by redirection, I liked it too. Never really thought a lot about it, straightforward, a bar is closing, people need to leave. But then recently I heard over the radio that the fellow that wrote the song intended it to be about having a child being born. Huh. So now this is what I think is so great about music, particularly rock. The song is what you want it to be. Hotel California is perhaps the most interpreted song of all time, Don Henley had his intent, put the words on paper and we all listened. And since then there are 1000 opinions on what it meant. That brings me full circle. Closing Time, to me, is about a bar closing, people need to leave. It finishes "I know who I want to take me home." Last call, lights are coming on, let's see who I can hook up with. I am from realville. I take the song that way.
