I think this song is either about a new relationship between a boy and a girl but the girl is hesitant to fully jump in and make the commitment and the boy is trying to convince her of his love for her or it's about a boy who wishes he was with a girl and he's asking her if she feels the same way about him. Either way, it's about the boy wanting to start a romantic connection with this girl. The first verse tells the story of them meeting and first getting to know each other at a party. The line in the pre-chorus 'Since you came back, I see things differently' does mess with my overall idea of this girl being new to him so maybe it's someone he already knew that has just come back into his life and he's now starting to have serious romantic thoughts about her since they came back which is a new development. The second verse tells us more about their relationship. He portrays himself as quite a loud personality (comparing himself to being a town crier and New Years Eve) while he refers to her as being more reserved and uncertain. I must say though. The chorus to this song is glorious and so heartwarming, the Arkells know how to make really great Choruses even when their verses are a bit weaker |

| I think this is a song about a guy who's been dating a girl for a short period of time and he's really into her and thinks they're great for each other and he's waiting for her approval to move to the next stage of their relationship as in actually being a proper couple although he has his doubts about whether or not she's into him to the same extent he is into her or if she's no longer interested. This might be some form of long-distance relationship as he mentions that she lives 'out on the West coast' (emphasis on the word 'out' here) and the 'long drive' to see her, the line 'So tired of sleeping alone' suggests they don't live together as well as his longing for her. Perhaps the song is a stream of all the thoughts he has about her as he makes this drive to see her while driving in the Saturday Sun | |

I think it's quite straight forward. It's a song about meeting and/or getting to know a new love interest and the feeling of wanting to know whether they're into you or not. Perhaps this moment takes place at a party based on the 'I'm so gone, Anyone could see that I'm wasted' line at the start of the song. The song is an inner-monologue one might have with themselves in which they express that they want to know the feelings of the other person and it's very much addressed to the love interest but singer doesn't have the confidence to tell them this face-to-face or hasn't had the chance to do so yet. The Chorus suggest that the singer finds this new person irresistible and they want to know that if they went all in and committed to this new person, as it seems like they want to do or are incapable of preventing themselves, whether their love would be reciprocated or not. It's such a good song, very catchy and lyrics are pretty easy to follow and relate to. |
