The audience for these lyrics is a new love interest. Both have already experienced love/relationships and are likely a little jaded from those experiences and hesitant to emotionally invest in a new love (been there, done that). Therefore, the lyrics remind the love interest of the basic benefits of having a lover (they are there for you...."call out a name And someone's believing). The lyrics further explain that life is hard and full of challenges but that each of them can help each other to face those challenges together.....forever (All things in time, all we'll ever need). On a personal note, I'm in a new relationship with a woman that has never been married or even had a boyfriend for more than 2 years (very jaded about love and relationships). Therefore, no matter what I say or do, she is hesitant to let her emotions take over. I am tempted to print these lyrics and hand them to her!! LOL |
