A-Ha – The Blue Sky Lyrics 7 years ago
I love this song, even though it is one of their lesser known ones. Something I love is the lyrics' versatility; whoever this person is, he needs them to be confident ... how they left him, who they were (no, it doesn't seem to have to be a girlfriend; could be anyone close), the whole context ... it's left up to the listener

Beautiful!

Sting – Russians Lyrics 7 years ago
Honestly these are probably my favourite song lyrics of all time. Sure, the song may be dated, but this is a message that will always be true, regardless of era or nation. Thank you, Sting, for speaking out.

t.A.T.u. – Perfect Enemy Lyrics 7 years ago
This song could be about the stigma toward lesbianism, but I honestly doubt that's what they were going for. Many of their songs could be interpreted that way, if that's how the listener wanted to hear them, but the meanings are also rather versatile and could signify many things. This seems to me, like it could be sung by any political faction, any demographic, any person or group who feels oppressed by another.

Depeche Mode – In Your Room Lyrics 7 years ago
I really love the concept and lyrics of this song. Though it could be interpreted as being about drugs, or more commonly, sex, it could also be seen in a variety of other ways; an obsession, any situation with complete self-surrender. It's like he had a feeling min upon writing it, but left the lyrics ambiguous yet detailed enough that listeners can interpret it in a way meaningful to them awhile the song still retains a lot of emotion caused by the original feeling/inspiration.

Kimbra – Settle Down Lyrics 7 years ago
FINALLY a song like this. While I don't think settling down is necessarily bad, if the woman and man both CHOOSE it, and are PREPARED. However, I always have hated that it seems women are SUPPOSED to "settle" in order to fit into society. Kimbra's comment about throwing away her freedom ... I can relate so deeply to that ... white picket fence, soccer moms, little bicycle girls with strawberry blonde ponytails ... no, just no thank you.

Luscious Jackson – Water Your Garden Lyrics 7 years ago
I am not sure if this is truly what it means, but to me it reads . . .

. . . as if, the song is about a person who wants to be proud, to achieve fame, to be patted on the back and encouraged. The singer is telling them that they believe in them, they think the person has talent (or the correct viewpoint, opinion/right to have a voice), but not to seek encouragement or assurance from others; to only seek what they want to please themselves. The lyrics suggest the person has been broken down many times after not receiving this, and the singer is trying to pick them back up, but not in the way they sought or expected.

Beautiful song; it deserves more attention <3

@[hurmie:26574] I honestly feel like you are reading too much into it, but you're right to say song can be interpreted many ways. That's part of what makes a beautiful song, the ambiguity. Even if a song has a primary meaning, you can see other meaning in it and in that way it really speaks to YOU.

However, I just don't really see this theme in the song; I feel it is mainly about sexual abuse, but that is just my opinion.

The Birthday Massacre – Pale Lyrics 7 years ago
In my opinion ...

I don't think this song is necessarily against religion; what I feel is that it is against people who say they're religious but don't follow what they say. They also make others who DO follow what they profess look bad.

I highly agree with Stude4art's comment and some of hundredskies' comment.
