This song (in the way I see it) is about being in a bad mental place that you feel you can never escape. In this case, the "Deep Dark Basement" would represent depression, and other "mental blocks" that may make a challenge in the narrators life. The line, "I hated everybody around me I even hated myself which i still do on my bad days" is pretty self explanatory, however, when the narrator mentions them hating themselves on their bad days, it shows a clear example of the narrator not being able to get out of that struggle. When the narrator mentions "you punched my mother in the mouth..." depression (or whatever else) would be the YOU in that line, ruining the narrators relationship with those who they love (or are supposed to love.) After battling such, hardcore, awful "mental blocks", you may never feel safe or comfortable, such as the narrators feeling in this song. The ending of the song is basically talking about how crap depression (or whatever else lmfaoo) made them feel. |
