Prepare to have your minds blown. Look at those lyrics with fresh eyes. Now look at the name of the band. Isn't it obvious? The tune is about Oz from the perspective of...Toto! Once you realize that "Africa" is standing in for Oz, everything else lines up rather neatly. It is, in the end, a heart-wrenching tale of a tiny dog's absolute devotion to his human.
