| The song is about my mother! She was engaged to a a man that worked off shore. He would beat her every time he came home. "Dancy" which was not his real name was about 10 years older than her and witness her fiance almost kill her by choking her outside on the balcony. Dancy began coming by and checking on her several times a week! Their relationship grew romantically and one day her fiance came in and caught them. He began beating her, kicking her. A fight broke out between the two men! Dancy killed him! My mother told him to run. leave and never come back.... She was pregnant by Dancy with me and they didn't know it yet! This was in 1962 and there was no internet! She could never find him, to this day I do not know who my father is or his real name. My mother took the blame for her fiance's death and was not charged because so many people knew how he treated her! Now you know the story! | |
