Kendrick Lamar – Blood Lyrics 7 years ago
I always end up listening to this song when I am driving home. The samples used just get to me in a way only a few songs have. When Lamar comes in with what seems like a poem, reminds me of almost a gospel sermon. Which is tight!

I think the meaning to this song comes from the radio recording we hear at the end. When the woman states her opinion on Lamar's views, she is the blind woman, unwilling to see what is really going on with police brutality. She is unwilling to her the truth in the words from someone who has had first hand experience to said brutality. Its no surprise that some people see no problem with how police over exercise, abuse, and overuse their power. The reasoning behind why police overreact, is it wickedness? Is it weakness? Well, only people can decided whether police are allow to go on with out consequence.

The story of the blind woman is a metaphor for Kendrick Lamar music; for what it means for change, and how it reaches the masses. The blind woman represents all those that are misguided and blinded by their own pride. They say they want change but are unwilling to accept it because of they prejudice. Then she shoots him in the end which just shows how when a police officer kills a colored person in cold blood with no reason the responsibility not only is on the officer but for those who defend them or do nothing at all.

Back the recording,
Man: "Uh, Lamar stated his views on police brutality with that line in the song
Quote "and we hate the popo, wanna kill us in the street fo' sho'"

Woman: Oh please, ugh, I don't like it

She doesn't like Lamar's views. She doesn't want to hear the truth. To her Kendrick is another rapper causing trouble.

It is a short song, but definitely deep when you dive in.
Lamar is truly a genius with song writing and I love how he doesn't sugar coat it. We need more people to speak their minds about the wickedness and ignorance in the world. We need change.
