The B-52's – Lava Lyrics 2 years ago
The song Lava is about how Fred is despondent and how, meanwhile, Kate and Cindy hate his guts and wish that he was dead. Toward the end Fred says "I'm gonna jump in a crater". In context, he means jumping into the crater of an active volcano. If he didn't die from the impact, he would quickly be burned to death by the molten rock. Rather than try to talk Fred out of this course of action, Kate and Cindy instead respond in unison "See ya later", which clearly conveys their happiness at the thought of Fred killing himself.

Minor Threat – Look Back and Laugh Lyrics 5 years ago
@[joshwasinger:35171] I found "Our Band Could Be Your Life" on pdfdrive, thanks. So it seems pretty clear that this song was about his failing out with Jeff Nelson, and also very likely the "straight edge" ideology was the main source of friction.

The Breeders – Safari Lyrics 5 years ago
The chorus "Ahh...ah, ah, ahhh" to me was obviously sexual penetration, first pain and then pleasure. I always thought she was referring to herself somehow, but now the "My Interpretation" comment below makes things clearer. She was bitter about being dumped by her ex and is taunting him, in a very rude and crude way, about preferring to be sodomized by "the man" to following her.

Veruca Salt – Spider Man Lyrics 6 years ago
Spiderman's crazy ex-GF. It's about a girl so obsessed with Spiderman, she starts to think she IS Spiderman.

This song is about someone in jail who is calling their dad.

Suicidal Tendencies – Institutionalized Lyrics 7 years ago
The song is satire. It's a harsh parody about a severely self-absorbed teenager. The giveaway is the bit about the Pepsi. It's also a commentary about parents who have a child like adopting a dog, and then put the dog in a shelter if things don't work out.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the dick sucking part was the key to that relationship.

(All) proceeds (go to): The Weedian, Nazareth (Israel)

Seriously, this is actually a great highway song. The I-95 stretch between Savannah and the FL border last week literally flew by.

Joan Armatrading – Drop the Pilot Lyrics 7 years ago
Joan herself recently answered this: http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/music/10514581/Joan-Armatradings-enduring-charm

'"People read all kinds of things into that song," she says, "but it's just about trying to convince someone to leave the person they're with because you're a better match. The bit about elephant riders and guys on motorbikes and so on confused a lot of people, but the message is very basic: forget him and get with me.'"
