There are twenty-two chapters in the NT Revelation, which is paralleled to various excerpts from OT Malachi and Enoch, among others. The twelfth book of Revelation describes the Woman of the Apocalypse, an image taken by Blake and transcribed into the famous painting of the Woman clothed in the Sun and the Great Red Dragon. In this chapter, the Devil identifies the woman as the bearer of salvation, in the form of a divine child and in its rage, it tries to consume her to stop the spread of goodness and divinity. Question is, who is threatening to consume goodness and morality? Is it the devil or us? Does the Church, with its good intentions and misguided prejudices assume the form of the Dragon? |
