I am only 15 but I believe the song is about how the singer is trying to find love during the end of the world and war. We see that when he refers himself to being "Just a lover", he also refers to the stars falling and to not follow them (Dont follow your dreams now). There is obvious references to the war in Iraq and how we should make love instead of war. The reference to the brutality of police killing coloured and black people and when he (the singer) maybe rapes woman or is a "ladies man" ("Finna catch a body like I got a gun and badge"). There is also the biggest reference with the puppet which means you can follow the system and let yourself be control by the stronger force holding the string, it is also referenced that the puppet is hanging from a tree (Suicide) possibly showing death and demonstrating how the fear of death controls us. Another reference is the Glock and the gram (cocaine most possiblu) that can be bought for cheap. Summary is that this shows how corrupted the current system and people should be having love and not fighting. May not be right but this is the closest thing I have. |
