I turned 22 years old in the summer of 1993,I had just moved back to the DC/Baltimore area after living in LA for most of 92,I doubt anyone will argue with me that this was the high water mark for rock & roll in general.....so many great,legendary bands found fame,fortune & carved their names in the history books....by 2000 one band towered over all other bands by doing things on their own terms & making music that for whatever reason meant a lot to a lot of people,that band of course is Tool.....after basically growing older together I must say I feel extremely lucky to be here at the same time that those 4 men make music/art together....the song to me means 1 thing .....it’s about survival ....& learning to survive on your terms means you have to learn to fight....I’m 48 years old & should have been gone from here years ago ...but I’m not....I was a funtioning alcoholic by the time I was 19,1st smoked PCP at 14,witnessed the birth of crack cocaine & unspeakable violence by the time I was 17 & have lived my life with very little regard for my personal well being but somehow I’ve survived & try my best to treat everyone how I want to be treated....but if you act like a dick I give you 1 warning that you aren’t messing around with some young man with something to prove,nope.Ive been around & if it comes to it I can put you in a position you do not want to be in before you even realize it....old warriors are dangerous ,very dangerous & I have no problems with death or time....survival is #1 & it’s weird to be the old guy but it beats the alternative |

You could say 90% of the songs made by hard rock bands in that era were about drugs which is probably pretty accurate ...bands back then didn't sing about happy shit,they made songs about real shit & that's why they connected with so many people....89-96 was (to me at least) the greatest era of rock&roll....sadly we'll never see anything like it again |
