There is so much more to that balcony scene than simply a dude dancing while she sings... "His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up" This implies that the game is somehow over for him, everything is ruined and his life is inexorably burning down around him, 'His hands are up' implies that he's been caught, found out, and there's no escape for him now. The swinging/swaying on the balcony suggests that he's either hanging himself or that he's about to jump or fall. Perhaps he's very intoxicated and is being totally reckless, but in any event it would appear Lana is encouraging him. The question remains of the identity of the 'he' in this song ~ I think it's much more complicated than just a romantic relationship. It may well be the part of herself that is compelled to live recklessly. |

| @[LucyItswd:24906] I think you're right in that there's a whole lot more to the image of swaying on the balcony than simply a dude dancing while she sings. It seems like a suicide attempt, or someone (a part of herself?) being reckless while intoxicated. I love how complex this song is! | |
