| I related to these lyrics so strongly because I have spent most of my life in the foster system and when I was adopted at age 16 — I was told to get out at age 17. (It feels like) Nothing I've ever had has been mine, not any of my multiple families and even my bedroom etc. | |

Talk about interpretation ~ Taking a stab at this music video's meaning, this song goes along with the lyrics. Even though at first, the lyrics aren't understood by the way that she sings them. (I thought that she was saying invincible or invisible, not miserable) My interpretation: The girls dancing on their laps are their 'demons' (dressed in black/could represent problems, but I think - depression). "Don't need a metaphor miserable" (to show you I'm depressed) She deals with, then fights the "demons" off of her because no one can see her sadness. Hence why they're blindfolded (they represent her sadness/depression) "Two years gone, came back as some bones and so cynical This skin don't feel like home It's all overgrown but you'll never know" (depression of 2 years is my guess) She fights during the scene featuring her on the table and intense black and white strobe lights. Then she's left blind because she's fighting by alone, by herself. Don't need a metaphor (to show you I'm depressed) miserable. Something is definitely obvious and unnoticed. This skin don't feel like home It's all overgrown but you'll never know Take the mirror from the wall so I can't see myself at all Don't wanna see another damn inch of my skull Forget the poems of saints and ghosts I'm the one I fear the most Little did I know that I was only crying wolf (She fights because no one can see her sadness, hence why they're blinded.) In the end... even she's blinded herself, maybe she is overtaken or it could represent that she became (or wants to become) like everyone else - finding bliss in being ignorant. "I know it's so wrong but I'm so far gone." Some supportive, and extremely powerful lyrics from this song are as follows: "Push and pull Oh, it's all getting old No I didn't want this throne Only fools make feasts of gold They rot the fruit on tables When did I get so pitiful Just a goddamn corpse in a centerfold You got my back against the wall And now I can't ever get comfortable No, I never sold my soul If I ever do throw my bones to the wolves" |
