@[JesusSaves:25980] As always, every AIC song is about drugs, right...? It was written in the late '80, like whole Facelift album. Staley started doing heroin in the late '91. Song is about media censorship, and about how we are fed by media with everything they want us to be fed with. Even in video you have Staley in the "box" watching TV. It's not even a guess, that's literally what they said that this is about. |

However for the chorus part I would say that he says it from the Jerry's perspective: "I'm above/Over you I'm standing above: He feels like Jerry looks down at him because of his struggles, inability to get clean and work; doesn't really relate to him on a personal level, possibly sees him as a weak person; "Claiming unconditional love" That actualy might refer to "No Excuses" song, which is known to be written by Jerry about their relationship, particullary verse "And if we change, well, I Love you anyway ". That's my interpretation. |

@[LeadEnema:24834] The ignorance of the lyrics and the possitive response it gets is just astonishing, "Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe You've been infected by a social disease" So he is almost saying that mental illness doesn't exist. Well, lucky you if you are healthy, but, even if you are not going to believe that, there are more than one point of view and there are as many worlds as there are people. Unfortunately noone chooses to which world he is going to be born, just as noone chooses to be born without legs. The more I live the more I'm getting more convinced that mental illness isn't all that different from the physical one. And author claiming that he has been there - if he did, he wouldn't write such a bullshit, even if he would be over that illness at this point. Those lyrics are bland and seem to have no any other aim than stigmatize mental people just to tell them how much they suck, which usualy they know already with their low esteem. |
