Saw Gorillaz in 2017 and much to my surprise and delight they ended the concert with Don't Get Lost In Heaven and Demon Days. What made it so more entertaining was between the songs, Damon just collapsed onto the stage. He wasn't hurt. He just added some theatrics. He laid there until it was time to sing Demon Days, lol. So what does that mean? Literally: "Pick yourself up, it's a brand new day So turn yourself 'round Don't burn yourself, turn yourself Turn yourself around into the sun" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :) |

@[Temme:24787] the "love is not a victory march" line is my favorite really. I know these things mean different things to different people. To me it means roughly the same to you. Love it touted as this magical, amazing, glorious and flawless thing that we get from fairy tales. Love is nothing like that. It is NOT a victory march. It's hard. It hurts. It can be painful. That doesn't make it bad. We're only human but we have a myriad of emotions and love is tied into everything from happiness to anger to sadness. To me, it means that if you can see love in that way, you have a better grasp on reality and you can take what life deals to you a little easier as opposed to wondering how it all comes crashing down when the fairy tale stops existing. Love is complicated and love is what we make it and what it means to each of us. Obviously there are tons of meaningful lines in this song but that one strikes me as a sort of cold hard truth. If anything, that can make love more powerful because sometimes we have to endure terrible things to make it through to the other side. Maybe some people interpret it differently but it gives me hope, to be honest. |
