@[sammie:30013]-lou I just have to disagree. I mean, we weren’t born to follow gives me the whole “march to the beat of your own drum” vibe; this doesn’t. It’s a patriotic song that doesn't get heard enough. |

This song reminds me of Undivided, in a strange way. They’re both songs that came out in the Bush era, and while Undivided alludes to the planes that took down the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and the one that would’ve taken down the White House or the Capital as “one for love, one for truth, one for me and one for you”- things and people taken from the American people- Bells Of Freedom sounds like the fallout of 9/11. With the “eve of defeat” could very well be 9/10, “when your world’s crashing down” could be alluding to the twin towers. Being “so far from everything you know is true” makes me think of the troops dispatched in Afghanistan, “in the dark, I have seen that the sun still shines for the one who believes” is basically saying life goes back to normal for the perseverant people, which is true enough. The rest, I don’t know. “Bells Of Freedom” has something to do with the liberty bell(?) |

@[tysteggall:30012] I never thought of that. (All the years since, I’ve thought that “Bells Of Freedom” was the 9/11 song. Guess you learn something new everyday. |

@[Fatalfurr:29341] There are a few happy songs. (If That’s What It Takes is probably the most upbeat, but Lie To Me and This Ain’t A Love Song are standard love songs, if you ask me. Diamond Ring is kinda like “I’ll Be There For You”, just, not as upbeat. But they kind of have the same concept. “I’ll be this; I’ll do that”. Heck, even the title track has a positive beat, in spite of the sad lyrics. Poor Jimmy Shoes. |

@[letitrock:29340] Are you kidding? That’s abuse of the song (especially if you live in New Orleans.) This is stuff that can get you a girlfriend. The Venus de Milo is a statue of Aphrodite/Venus, I think located in Rome. Nothing like telling a girl she’s a goddess. (The “when I put my hands in her cookie jar” part is not as complimentary. I’m guessing he had to say that instead of “ass” or “breasts” for multiple reasons.) |

Easy peasy. This is his way of saying “Take your lumps. The strongest opponent you’ll face is life” |

This song is probably considered anti religion because of the “I lost all faith in my God/If I don’t believe in Jesus” lines (but my dad considers it religious, go figure). When in reality, it’s kind of saying “Society is telling me God is fake and I can’t trust my friends.” Hence, the narrator is saying “If God isn’t real, how can I believe in Jesus, and if I can’t believe in Jesus, can I believe someone I can see? What CAN I believe??? |

Also, I read or heard that “temptation “ translated in Hebrew or something like that is something interchangeable with “sin”, so that’s something to consider, assuming I have my facts right. |

@[torrance21:28279] Jesse James Bongiovi huh? Also, Blaze Of Glory essentially originated from Wanted Dead Or Alive. That’s what the people from Young Guns II originally wanted, but Jon said “No, but I’ll get back to you.” (Probably because Young Guns had nothing to do with being a rock star.) Hence, they used “Billy Get Your Guns” and “Blaze Of Glory” for the end credits. :P |

For some strange reason, this is one of the few mellower songs by Bon Jovi that my dad likes. (He’s no fan of Bed of Roses, In These Arms, Always, If That’s What It Takes, etc) What’s unique about this one? Willing to bet money that he wouldn’t like it if he understood what Jon is saying. :P |

@[InvaderZimsLinkinParkGirl:26679] Dude, I don’t care if this about a stalker. I wouldn’t care if BED OF ROSES was about a RAPEST, or if IN THESE ARMS was about a SEXUAL ABUSER. They’re all perceived as great songs. Let people still be able to perceive this one as great. (Bed of Roses and In These Arms aren’t really about said all caps things. I was just trying to make my point that devoted fans don’t give a rat’ rear end about what it’s about. Especially if it’s a negative.) |

@[MrsBonJovi:26678] If this were “We Rule The Night”, I could understand that. (If I recall correctly, the reason that song was scrapped for so long is because the band thought it was too dark for them.) But “Always”? That’s like saying Bed of Roses is a stalker theme song. |

Always was actually supposed to go in the movie “Romeo Is Bleeding”, but Jon didn’t like how it sounded. (Probably at the time it was the demo they have in 1000000 Bon Jovi fans can’t be wrong.) so he pulled it out. |
