Beautiful song… a tribute to his daughter Amber Jean, who’s an artist/painter. To me it’s about an artist following their dreams no matter the difficulty to comes with such a life. Love the production and the sound quality, so open and airy but warm at the same time. |

Kurt recorded this song after reading The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac. The book, like his classic, On The Road, is autobiographical, though he changed everyone’s names and is about Jack and other Beat Generation icons (Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Philip Whalen, Neal Cassady, Michael McClure, etc.) studying Zen Buddhism, living out their bohemian lifestyles in 1950’s San Francisco, writing and reading poetry, and partying... which included smoking “Tea” getting naked, drinking wine, sitting cross-legged, eating beans and being happy. |
