This is my interpretation of the ‘where angels play’ lyrics. I have put in depth lyric descriptions beside various lines, and have left a detailed description at the bottom. “Come with me to a place no eyes have ever seen A million miles from here where no one's ever been” - a guy is being asked to take acid and trip with for the first time, with his lover. He is told that they will go to place where know-one has ever been and is millions of miles away, where they can be free unlike where they live just now. “God-given grace and a holy Heaven face I'm on the edge of something shattering I'm coming through” - this is him being told of the feeling of being on this trip. He agrees to ‘come through’. “Ok, let's fly", she says, "this carpet's made for two" - she tells him that the trip was meant for the two of them, as they will experience love, truth and pain together. “This ugly little box, no place for me and you” - this is them talking a out where they come from wether it be home, Britain, or earth as a hole. They are saying that it is a worn out prison like place (ugly little box) and that they deserve better and should escape. “Our carpet falls on a dew-fresh daffil plain” - this is them beginning to trip, the carpet falling is them breaking through into this ‘magical place’ “Take a look around, there's something happening All the colors fade” - this again is them breaking through into this new place. “I don't want you now, bang, bang, bang, gone Oo, I don't need you now, the seeds are sown Oo, bang-bang, pretty-pretty, bang-bang I don't think so, no, no I don't think so, no, no Bang-bang, bang-bang” - this is him now seeing her home for what it really is like and realising that she can live without it. He doesn’t want to be there anymore and doesn’t need to be there anymore. The seeds are sown relates to him discovering how wrongly they were treated in her home and this was the final straw for them...they dont want to return. “Far Below, the country roads like a mighty boiling sea The warm, red Sun gives up and sinks into the trees” - like the sun rises and falls, a trip comes up then fades to an end. “But I'm no fool, I can't stand here betrayed” - he isn’t a fool as he can now see his home for what it is really like, he feels betrayed by it and doesn’t want to go back to a place where he has been betrayed. “Take a look around, there's something happening All the colors fade” - the colours are fading again but back to normality this time. “I don't want you now, bang, bang, bang, gone Oo, I don't need you now, the seeds are sown Oo, bang-bang, pretty-pretty, bang-bang I don't think so, no, no I don't think so, no, no Bang-bang, bang-bang” - this time, the chorus has the same meaning however the bang-bang ending of the chorus can this time be interpreted as suicide, as they cant face returning to a world of lies. ..... The whole song is a metaphor for an acid trip, however the acid trip itself could be a metaphor for running away from there home to a place where they can be free. The trip coming to an end could relate to the two running away from there homeland and getting caught from authorities. To avoid returning to there home they take there lives. Why they would be running away I’m not sure, perhaps they committed a crime or were just treated badly. The acid trip metaphor throughout the song is backed up by the lyrics ‘all the colours fade’. Wether the acid trip is a metaphor for running away, or if the song is actually about an acid trip...what we can see from the lyrics is it is about two people who just want to get away and be free.
