@[flamingamo:24528] I love the almost "anthem" quality of this song!! But on a historical/lyrical note: Patty Hearst robbing a bank "to get rich" -- I don't think so... She was a very wealthy woman. Now if you had said that she was robbing the bank for the benefit of the SLA I would have bought it (no pun intended) -- but no can do. She was a total victim of the mind control techniques of the SLA, and hence held up the bank - or held the AK-47 while others did the robbing -- because as their prisoner she HAD to. |

I have told my spouse that this song must be played at my own funeral (not happening just yet..) I simply cry my eyes out every time I hear this song; we lost so much with Warren's death. Yes, by Warren's standard this IS a sappy kind of song, but yeah, so what? The man was dying, simply expressing his love to/for his family. |

@[ACG2x:24526] Warren always simply cut to the chase and let the poetry do it all. Your wife is so right about this being a song for a funeral. I am going to put in my own funeral plan that this song should be played at my own funeral (I'm not there yet, I hope). |

@[scumbagstyle:24525] I am so surprised that nobody has gotten into your shit for saying that "it was only his own doing that brought his death around" -- mesothelioma, the cancer that took him from us all, is caused by exposure to asbestos, and not by the excesses typical of his life, Who knows where he may have been exposed to asbestos - in a house he lived in at some point during his life, in a school he went to, in a seedy LA hotel; the list could go on and on. But his death was not caused by anything intentional in his life; it was simply the sad, sad end to an amazing songwriter/poet and performer. |
