i think that this song is about a guy who falls for a really self-destructive girl, she's really controlling and manipulative, selfish, dramatic, she wants and she wants but she never gives back. I think that he's singing from what he thinks she feels, but he still cares and he still wants her even though she's all of that. Which probably reminds him of a true razorblade. Because like a razorblade all she does is make things better temporarily but later you end up regretting it, until you do it again, and you keep doing it cause it helps you feel better. In the same way I think that she might make him feel a little better when she's feeling like it, but in the end just like a true razorblade all she does is cause more harm than good. |

This song has always had a lot of meaning to me, for me it symbolizes that even though you have known nothing but heart break you can still learn to love. I think that when Hayley was writing this she just remembered all of the things from her past that lead her to believe that love wasn't a real thing, and that even if she did find love it would "never last" just like it was for her parents. I feel like in a way she was talking about how afraid of love she was and that she really just tried to brush any hint of love away, until she, herself was falling in love and she realized that maybe, love was a real thing, which lead her on her very own path to "believing" I think it's really interesting because even up until that last line you can see her doubt, because she never really clearly says that she's also in love, she still keeps her distance which is why i think it gives this song so much meaning. |
