I love this song. It is both sad and happy. Silly and tragic. Sad because he worries that she will leave him since she's someone who beats to the beat of her own drum to the point of being selfish. Not necessarily in a bad way- really in a strong independent way- but none the less, she will think of herself before him. Happy because clearly they have a connection, he believes in her! lol. I'm sure she loves that and that gives him hope that she will stay with him and hang on. Silly because you can hear it in his voice- he doesn't even know WHY he is sticking around. Like he feels a little crazy. But in a good way?! Tragic because clearly it could be the greatest love of his life, and hers, but it may not be. That's my interpretation!
