Amos Lee – Seen It All Before Lyrics 8 years ago
This is not a love song in the regular human on human love song. This is the song about the often trying love between a man and his dog. A Dalmatian. Anyone familiar with the breed will know they are hyperactive and temperamental, often intelligent but prone to bursts of energy.

"Go ahead baby
Run away again
I'm growing tired of chasing you"
- Here the singer is upset because the dog has bolted out the door off leash again.

"I know you only have time to love me
When you got nothing better to do
Who's bold enough to believe
Neither love or war"
Here the Dalmatian, is upset because the owner often leaves it alone in the house. Bold enough to believe in neither love nor war - is the Dalmatian coming to terms with de-attaching from its bond with the owner.

Both just leave you busted, broken down
And wanting more

"And baby I seen it all before
You know that I've seen it all before
You know that I've seen it all before
I ain't gonna be your fool anymore"
The Dalmatian is no fool how many times does the owner make promises that it doesn't keep, promises treats, outings etc. that never arrive?

"I can hear my heart pounding
Oh but I just can't decide
Stuck between the depths of my feet
And the peaks of my pride"
Special part of the song for the Dalmatian who considers returning to the owner after an escape.

And baby I seen it all before
You know that I've seen it all before
You know that I've seen it all before
I ain't gonna be your fool anymore

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

"I've seen your tricks
And your trade-offs
I've seen your evil ways
I've seen everything your twisted smile
conveys"
Watching humans irritates the Dalmatian and its tired of the corruption and the games without reward. No appreciation, the Dalmatian is just a stylish toy for the man in its eyes.

"Yeah baby I seen it all before
(Be your fool babe)
I've seen it all before
I ain't gonna be your fool babe)
I ain't gonna be your fool babe
I ain't gonna be your fool babe
I ain't gonna be your fool baby anymore"
Gone for good, or is it just a dream of the Dalmatian who finds itself left alone all day in the house again for days or for weeks?
