| I dont know if anyone else knows this, but I can tell you exactly what this song was about. My Mom told me this story many years ago, and I kind of dismissed it. Then years later, she repeated the story without my provocation. As she was telling me the story, I realized that she was serious. Keep in mind, my Mom was a Playboy bunny in NYC. I took an envelope she had sitting on the counter, and started taking notes. She told me that she met Jerome at a Diner in NYC, along with others. And he took a shine to her. My Mom had been asked out, and went out on many occasions with Jerome. Jerome fell HARD for my Mom. My Mom loved his company, but Jerome wanted to get serious with her. My Mom had a hard time thinking about a future with a man in a wheel chair. She started dating another man at the same time. I remember him well. His name was Tom. Tom was a very tall man, and a basketball player in NYC. Somehow, Jerome knew that my Mom was not exclusive to him. Hence the song Suspicion. After My mother married years later, Jerome called her from the hospital in NY, and wanted to let her know that he always loved her. Jerome had married and had a family of his own, but always had that special place in his heart for her. They both have passed since then, but I felt the need to get the record straight. | |
