"No one deserves it," that's sung with the most beautiful ache of a particular mix of frustration and sympathy, but it's not entirely clear that it's for the other person who's the "you" in the song or for himself in the unfairness of being cast in as this object of affection for a person who is not inspiring reciprocal feelings whatsoever and it's like, "alright already!" It's kind of my feelings when I hear this line and then the "I never meant to hurt you," sort of tempers the other part, he's not trying to be abrasive and it wasn't the intention to blow her off, but it's not gonna get any further. |
