@[Underthisrain:23307] Mate I like your interpretation. You haven't made any major mistakes about Christianity at all, so well done :) We don't believe that you have to be a GOOD Christian to go to Heaven (we all make mistakes), but that a person has to at some point in their life repent to God of their sin, acknowledge his death on the cross, and ask him to forgive them. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13. Because everyone continues to sin, Christians included, we need to continue to repent to God whenever we sin. Abusing grace is when a person is like "oh well, since God will forgive me even though I sin, I can just do whatever I want." This is wilful defiance of God, and it is not ok. it also suggests that the person never truly accepted God.

Suicide is certainly something God considers a sin. This is kind of a difficult topic, and I'm no theologian, but I'll do my best to explain :) It's a sin like any other sin really. I mean sin is despicable no matter what, there are no good sins if you know what I mean. The thing with suicide is that it is a decision you make once, and there is no turning back. But it isn't an unforgivable sin, and God in his mercy would surely forgive it. Now Christians often get depressed, but we have the incredible hope of eternity with God, so suicide is so unnecessary.
You are entirely correct about how God is the only one to decide when life ends.
You have done very well on a tricky topic, and you've helped me appreciate this song even more, so thanks mate :)
I love your interpretation!

Twenty One Pilots – The Run and Go Lyrics 8 years ago
@[Oliveia:23198] yeah I totally agree with your interpretation. I like your interpretation of his guilt for taking the life of Christ, but I also thought of it a bit like Trees, where he is ashamed and standing cowardly, in my opinion because he has sinned yet again. He has metaphorically killed a man, or maybe he is referring to contributing to Jesus' punishment for our sins. idk. He doesn't want to call out to The Rock, his guilt makes him stubbornly afraid. And yet, he finally calls out to God, his hiding place. It's a beautiful song, much like Trees.

This song is definitely my favourite song by these guys.
I don't want to make people who don't believe in God annoyed, but it really is about Him.
It reminds me of that quote from the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, where the demon Screwtape writes "Do not be deceived, Wormwood. Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy's will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys.” Tyler is looking around for traces of God, and he knows God is always at his side, but he can't see any visible traces of God. He longs for God, he wants to say hello, but God remains elusive. He is testing our faithfulness probably. God moves in mysterious ways...

Now I think this song has a double meaning, which makes me love it even more!
When Adam in the Bible sinned, he felt unworthy to walk with God, so he hid in the trees. That is what we metaphorically do. I feel when I sin (again and again) so undeserving to be called a Child of God, and there seems to be a barrier between us. I long to cry out to Him, and walk with Him again, but I am ashamed. I long to say hello, as whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
I love this song so much, as it is so applicable to life.
If you're still reading, thanks so much for reading my first post. I hope you like with my interpretation :)
