Like any captivating lyric there are multiple dynamics at play. Fame Vs. (&) Insecurity-neediness Luck or Talent Vs. Odds Literally the expression “Look at You, Bull in the Heather” similar meaning to “kid in a candy store” or “YOU Lucky Dog.” If drawing a sexual connotation it’s about having your way. The video playfully makes a reference to “groupie” as well as the racehorse by same name. It’s a very cute name for a race horse. The story about the incredible race odds makes it even better. :) |

| @[xby45:23143] Yes! He struggles with himself to feel so close to someone. It brings up a lot of conflict for him. Ultimately to bring forward is healing, painful healing of deep wounds, and the title a trite reference to his past (baggage). Which he thinks he should be over by now.. But Alas! They make us who we are. | |

I really like the many interpretations. I just wanted to add that "All the Rage Back Home" to me means all the deep imprinting of rage, pain & wounding from his childhood.. Which come up for him when he is deeply involved with a woman, his partner. But it's also kind of a double or triple meaning laced with the triteness of his feelings that he cannot escape his childhood. "Oh the feelings" to me is the deep feelings stirred by passionate connected sex. All kinds of feelings. Feelings, he is so overwhelmed he cannot speak or cry. It just is a bundle, as amazing and wonderful, painful and terrible as life itself. Specifically his life, his childhood leading into the now. She is more talkative wanting confirmations, etc. the beautiful irony is she says "My faith won't lie" but she is also pushing him for confirmation, a commitment of some kind. I keep falling, maybe half the time.. Is so wonderfully ambiguous, truly gorgeous poetry that is a deep yearning feeling. We do not know, does he mean falling in love? falling back into his childhood emotions? faltering in some way in his current partnership? Or faltering in some way to himself? Or truths of his past? Can he leave them behind? (18 summers) or will they haunt him forever? When is enough? Is he being true? I love this song! And the video is absolutely stunning. |
