Hmmm, I think it's a backwards scenario on "She Will Be Loved". He kept dating all these girls, and never realized he loved HER. The one who "cut out all the noise", brought him back to reality, steadied him when he couldn't stand. It was her touch, her voice, he took everything about her for granted. He doesn't understand love, and he never will unless she gives him another chance. She left him, and now he's heartbroken and beating himself up over his stupidity. He's going through hell, the darkest times of his life, and what always kept his head above the surface, is gone. He dosen't care if he dies tied to her, he doesn't care if he dies trying to understand the meaning of her love. He just wants to try to pay her back, because he loves her and he now realizes that she's absolutely obsessed with him, but trying to give up on him. It's a song about him hating himself for being an absolute idiot, and now he wants to try to fix it, and this is how he's telling her. It's the only way he knows how. |

The video and the song itself (in my interpretation) do not match up on any level. I think the song itself is about Adam loving her, but she never realizes it and now he's saying good bye and trying to nice about it. It's a reverse scenario in "How" in Hands All Over. On with the interpretations. The video, I think he's still in love with the younger girl, but it keeps turning to the mother. She in an abusive relationship, and she wants so badly to be loved, touched, anything that doesn't tear her down that she turns to Adam. I think it's more of her desperation. Adam doesn't want to push her away, he "wants to make her feel beautiful". I think that's where the video was going, but I really wish that Adam had said that that WAS NOT what the song was about. (in my interpretation) So there's another interpretation to add to the approximately 16-14 year old conversation. =D |

She won't budge, hence her solo, but he's so desperate, still, she won't move and now he's trying to give up. |

Really? I thought this song interpretation was quite obvious. The body is a safety for her. He knows everything about and he's in love, but she won't look at him to see he's head over heels. He stays every time, but she keeps leaving, and he's ready to give up. He's tired of this hamster wheel and he gives up. He's trying to explain this to her and he leaves, hence "look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile". She's realizing it was him all this time, and she was too blind to realize that, and now she's hurting and putting on a brave face. |
