| Kamelot – Once Upon a Time Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
In a nutshell, this song is a powerful anthem of self improvement and independence. Also being the final track on the final album with Roy Khan, it calls back to the epic, charging symphonic metal which put Kamelot on the map, but still sticks with the themes of personal strife in Poetry for The Poisoned. "I am scorned in this heavenly scheme With the stench of destruction I'm a reaver of beautiful dreams And she knows I'm on the edge, sacrilege" -The speaker is in a dark place and people in their life have concern for them. "Tell me once upon a time I close my eyes and see myself reborn Righting the wrong I won't stay to stand in line And wait for God to shine all over me I wait for the storm" -The speaker does not just wish for a change in their deeds, but declares that they will step out of line to make a change and not wait for a, perhaps never-coming, divine intervention. |

Great song. The sound lies in the balance between Epica and the Black Halo so well. Generally, the meaning of the song is that Ariel cannot rely on his previous good deeds to save Helena. He must actively seek out a way to save her; he's gotta become the hero. Although Ariel is weighed down heavy by his misdeed of leaving his wife, he must exert himself further in his wandering to save her, the very act that made her die in the first place. |

| Kamelot – Elizabeth Part 2 - Requiem For The Innocent Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
Assuming you understood that this 3 part song is about Elizabeth Bathory, in this song she is in her prime, killing virgin servant girls and going insane with power. Note well though, this entire song is addressed to Elizabeth's mother. Elizabeth knows she is sinning and wants to feel better about her actions, so she seeks the embrace of her mother. However, "your blood preserves my place in time" makes it somewhat clear that Elizabeth ends up killing her mother and the next song is about dealing with the consequences of killing a noble, including: prison! |

| Kamelot – My Train of Thoughts Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
This is a very personal song. At this time in the singer/songwriter, Roy Khan's life, he was struggling with issues of religious belief. I think this song has to do with grappling with such beliefs. "In the shadow of my doubt This life is dust on naked walls" In his worldview, there is no ultimate meaning or purpose. "In the ruins of defeat The spotlights fade There's a clown without a crowd His sorrow smiles relentlessly Welcome winter, bittersweet Of final fall" He feels as if he is defeated when he loses joy from his passion, music. The clown, being the singer, fears whether or not people appreciate what he does. Despite this fear, he welcomes the end if it may come. "My train of thoughts keep on hauling me over a low again Easy to see for a someone whose soul can bleed" The singer believes his sense of self-righteousness and gathered knowledge regarding life are just barely getting him through places where he questions religion might give him fulfillment. Religious people, those who have souls which are able to bleed, are able to visibly see this struggle in his life. "So far astray When all comes to all You'll never be satisfied You might as well let go" The singer doesn't believe religion can truly give him fulfillment, so he just suggests giving up on trying to find true fulfillment and meaning. Regardless, he will count on what he knows to allow him to endure the coming storms in his life. |

| Kamelot – Seal of Woven Years Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I'd like to think this song is about a slighted person with vengeance. "Pull the trigger now, if you're craving a hero" Probably the edgiest and cringiest thing Roy Khan has sang. Regardless, the speaker seems to have the position of a moral high ground. Everything up to and "The fattest lies hold your needs" basically reveals that the audience is a person who has definitely sinned in some grave way, but that the speaker is somehow involved in the situation. "Wait for the morning, come a different day Carry the weight of all you say is wrong We both would deny there is a secret fate A seal of woven years of waiting flying by" Great chorus! The speaker is just saying, "I'll bide my time; you have to live with what you've done. We both know where you're going when you die, and what has happened cannot be undone. Our actions are woven into the past years and our fates have been sealed. |
