I think this song has a similar meaning to "Tear In My Heart" based on the music video. In the video Tyler is in the back of a black car that falls apart as it drives. I think the person driving it, in a black hoodie, represents Blurryface and the car represents his life. Sometimes Blurryface gets control and makes Tyler miss out on life. He sees people in trouble, like Josh with drums on fire in the middle of the road, and can't help them because Blurryface won't let him. But like Tear In My Heart, where Tyler's wife beats Blurryface out of him, here Josh bangs on his drums and knocks Blurryface out. With every smack of the drumsticks another piece of the car breaks and soon Tyler is back in control, with Josh's help. I think "Heavydirtysoul" shows how Tyler relies on his close friends and family to help him get rid of Blurryface both temporarily and maybe later for good. |
