| Splendora – You're Standing on My Neck Lyrics | 8 years ago |
I think this song is about when you feel so different from the rest of the world that you think you might be from another planet. And all those annoying people who always tell you "You never smile, you are always gloomy, etc. etc..." just don't understand you because you see things in life in a way nobody else does. "It's like a big train wreck" means that it's really heavy having to deal with these people all the time. "You're standing on my neck" means you are annoying me because you can't accept that I am different and I am okay with that and I don't want to change just to fit in, but clearly you are not okay with that. |

| Splendora – College Try (Gives Me Blisters) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
This is how I interpret it: "Bury me in the stacks, (in the back)" - It refers to all the things you have to do when you go to college, you are buried in work "Matriculate, move through the cracks (through the cracks)" - Nobody really pays attention to her. Maybe she doesn't have any friends "Got no sorority sister" - Yes, she doesn't have any friends "A college try gives me blisters" - College sucks "Make those pledges walk the planks (walk the planks)" - Before going to college she had a lot of ambitions, and she promised herself she would have done great, but things are not going the way she thought and she kinda feels like she is losing hope. College is actually destroying her dreams "Guess I'm majoring in angst (angst)" - As a consequence of college being so shitty, she feels frustrated and angry because this is not how things were supposed to turn out "Initiation shifts orientation" - Before going to college she had certain expectations, but after being initiated into it she realises that maybe she wants something else from life. Maybe she started studying because she wanted to get a degree and become a millionaire, now that she sees how emotionally draining it is she is thinking "Why the hell am I doing this? Is it really worth it? Am I wasting my life? Are there other experiences that I'm missing? Is being a millionaire really important in life? etc. etc..." |
