this song is very beautiful. from rogers voice to davids guitar solo. this song sums up The Wall perfectly too. it talks about a guilty kid who "made love to girls in magazines" and wonders if "anybody could love him" it also starts talking about the girl he's in love with who doesn't seem to love him back. (i feel like this is a reference to the cheating wife in The Wall) he wants to "bear his naked feelings" to her and "show her his dark and weak side" but is scared of what she will do. "will you send me packing? or will you take me home?" towards the end of the song he talks about killing himself or making the "final cut". but then the phone rings and he never had the nerve to finish the job. the caller on the phone must've been any loved one or even the adulterous ex wife. this stopped him from suicide. anyways this song has gotten me through a lot and never gets old for me. |

| Pink Floyd – See Emily Play Lyrics

this song means a lot to me. my name is emily too lmao. but my interpretation of the song is about a girl who is scared to grow up. she is becoming depressed about it too. this one line really gets me: "soon after dark, emily cries. gazing through trees with sorrow, hardly a sound til tomorrow" this may be wrong but to me i feel like this part of the song talks about how when night falls, emily's depression worsens and she cries over it. she doesn't talk to anyone or make any sounds until the next day arrives. then towards the end of the song it talks about how she wears "a gown that touches the ground" which indicates marriage. she has grown up. she no longer "plays" like she used to when she was happy and young. i know there are many other interpretations and probably better meanings but this is what i think and this is what the song means to me. love pink floyd. |

i think that this song is clearly about growing up. it's a warning to those who are young and have not yet experienced the tragedies that life brings as you get older. "don't be surprised when a crack in the ice appears under your feet" it's saying that bad things are gonna happen so don't be surprised. love pink floyd |
