The lyrics on here are a mess! And need to be corrected here are the correct lyrics: I fell in love with a wind-up souvenir I bought her downtown as I was on my way to meet you She sounds the like the songs you used to sing to put me to sleep Now that you're gone, she's all that I've left to hold And I feel so all alone No one's gonna fix me when I'm broke How do you cry with inanimate eyes? You're never gonna smile with the way that you’re wired And I feel so all alone I gave her to you. (I don’t need a toy) I thought you might appreciate (i don’t like the way that it moves) The way that she dances The painted look upon her face (someone must have thrown this away) She must have come from the sun (I got too much stuff) I want to take her through the park She would tell me I’m all (Speaking of which) that she want if she could even talk (I think we need to talk) I feel so all alone No one's gonna fix me when I'm broke How do you cry with inanimate eyes? You're never gonna smile with the way that you're wired And I feel so all alone I feel so all alone And she sits on my shelf It makes me think of you The way she carries the things that remind me of who We used to be before we became antiques She's a lot like you But when I hold her too tight, I know she'll break She just takes some glue to stay I feel so all alone No one's gonna fix me when I'm broke How do you cry with inanimate eyes? You're never gonna smile with the way that you're wired And I feel so all alone I feel so all alone I feel so all alone |

| fun. – It Gets Better Lyrics | 7 years ago |
| I’ve always been curious about the radio bit in the middle. I sounds like maybe a tv or radio that was left on. From what I can hear is sound like “In a nation with no values other than your own values are rubbish” and then “Jesus, America” then sounds like a different person maybe a person in the song says “Oh my God”. I always took the lgbt perspective on this song. In equal parts about sex and the general idea of sexual orientation and coming out. For myself it’s kind of a mantra “it gets better”. Anyway, that radio bit plays into that idea for me in that it seems like a homophobic speech about “traditional values” and the “oh my god” is the person in the song saying that as they turn off the TV or radio. Just a thought | |
| Five for Fighting – The Devil In The Wishing Well Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| Btw symbolically all three characters in the story can at one point be found deep in the ground (towards hell) Jane and the singer are at the center of the earth and the devil is deep inside the wishing well leading me to believe that all three are partly the devil. | |

Am I the only one who thinks that Jane and the devil are the same person in this story? It seems clear that the song is reflective of the evil in all of us right? So sometimes the devil sits at the bottom of a place where you make wishes where you are vaunerable and you hope and sometimes the devil is a pretty girl who appears to be trying to help us. Sometimes we are the devil. I think that the singer is dealing with the different manifestations of evil in their life. Represented by the three characters. Also, side note, I think it is very significant that the directions change the second time. (Take a left vs. took a right) I think it represents how we find the hope (the wishing well) the comfort (the big hotel) and the evil (the devil) no matter where we go (mostly because it's inside of us). I think the point is that we are all misunderstood and need others to understand that. |
