I didn't have one dark view of the song but I thought her loved one is telling her to hold his hand and he will be with her side through all the problems but your review really expanded my thoughts and elaborated the meaning even more. | |

From what I have gathered the song shows three groups or caste. The bees are the higher class of people from another land. The birds(people) are the higher class of people here at this land and the bees do not have control over them. The bees (metaphorically speaking) want to overpower them and take their position. Now they have now declared a fight so they could do so. Now the creatures of snow are the middle class people who now help the birds to protect their land. Dirty paws are the people who are always degraded and discriminated yet to win this fight the birds take help from them. Now when they say " So for a while things were cold They were scared down in their holes The forest that once was green Was colored black by those killing machines" means they were at the loosing end at first and were inside their homes scared for their life. But when the last stanza comes into play, "But she and her furry friends Took down the queen bee and her men And that's how the story goes The story of the beast with those four dirty paws" it shows yet with a brave face they fought back and showed the invadors that they could not overpower them no matter how hard they tried because they will not let a bunch of foreigners take away their land from them because for that no differences would matter to them and they will unite to protect their soil. And this is how the creature with those four dirty paws(metaphorically speaking) proves itself and rises to power showing its capabilities, that it is no less than others. |
