I think the song for me is like, End of comparison for whom in prisonned. In the song of "I" doesn't mean John himself. This "I" refers to the Voice from Scatland, and Scatland is the one of area of heart, where area of relaxation and peace overlaps. Why this song still reminds me always in time to time is because this song magnifies and touch area of my unpolluted heart, where he called Scatland.
