This song perfectly describes the feeling when you have given all you can to a relationship and it's still not enough. No matter how much you try to make the other person happy - "Seems to me girl, you know I've done all I can/ You see I've begged, stole and borrowed" your relationship still turns to sh*t. The reason he is feeling so "easy" about walking out on this girl is because he knows without a doubt that he has tried his very hardest to no avail.
