While the part about picking a killer up is mostly refering to a screenplay morrison was writing, the lines "into this world we're thrown etc." clearly are a product of the world-weariness morrison experienced. |

Taking "the highway to the end of the night" is probably a euphemism for suicide from someone who perceives himself as "born to the endless night" while others are born in bliss and light. The Oxymoron "bright midnight" therefore propably refers to death.
My assumption is supported by the fact that Morrison clearly has written songs about suicide ("Yes, the River knows") and world-weariness ("Riders on the Storm") and this subject area generally is a common object of his lyrics. |
