I really loved Taylor's 1989 album and I appreciate she's trying out a new style but this song is weird to me. Some parts I like, some parts I don't. It's the same with the meaning, it's about how hard times can turn you into a better person. However, it's also kind of petty. The line "The world goes on, another day another drama. Not for me, all I think about is karma," is really telling for me. It seems this new style is really only about revenge and out-doing people which really isn't the best message to send Taylor. |

I think this song is about Demi feeling hopelessly devoted to a man she knows doesn't love her. She loves him so much and would do anything for him. She always waits for the better man to come out in him but she is always left disappointed. She feels she is fool as her hope for their relationship working is unfounded but she still would do anything for this man. |
