I'm a little late to the party. But I can't believe no one caught the meaning behind these lyrics: "Planes fill the sky ... Hands from the sky Swat us away like flies" Guys, the "hands from the sky" swatting them away like flies were bombs. In "We Are Not the World", war breaks out. That confirms what's happening at the end of the song. The protagonist likely succumbs to his illness in "A Hero Loses Every Day", so it could be him imagining their interaction and sees the planes fill the sky as he finally dies. But the song doesn't end with him actually dying. He says he will be dead the following day. So it could be that his wife comes to see him in his final hours to have closure. And it ends with them both dying from the "hands from the sky". |

| It's really interesting to look at these old comments and see how people thought back then. I was only 10 at the time and I guess it's nice to know young adults thought about the same back then as they do now. | |
