This song is about how methadone can be worse than the heroin addiction. It's side effects can be deadly, causing irregular heart rhythm and shallow breathing. It's also harder to get off of than heroin as withdrawal can last a month. That's the "price you'll pay" in the song. |

I hate alarms. I think it would be better to wake up to this song. Radio-head should sell alarm clocks in their merch. |

I know I'm probably wrong but when they used to play this song I thought it was about a guy who likes to steal, and they punished him by cutting off some fingers or something that's why he has a wounded hand and he's "half the man" he used to be. |
