Panic! at the Disco – Camisado (Relax, Relapse) Lyrics 6 years ago
"This was no accident, it was a therapeutic chain of events"

He meant to hurt himself, and sought the release of anguish that many feel upon doing so - if only for a while.

"This is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor, this is the scent of quarantine wings in a hopistal"

The hospital is an uncomfortable place to be for him; 'quarantined' in the sense that when you harm yourself you're held for 72 hours against your will and the smell sickens him.

"It sure as hell ain't normal, but we deal, we deal"

He knows this isn't a customary way to push away at the pain, but has accepted it nonetheless.

"...I'm wondering where the apathy and urgency is that I thought I phoned in..."

He expects no one to show sympathy for what he's done, nor does he want it, but understands very well what could happen if his wounds aren't treated swiftly.

"...sit back, relax... sit back, relapse again..."

The need has subsided for now, but he knows he will 'relapse' and hurt himself again to ease his own pain.

"Can't take the kid from the fight, but take the fight from the kid"

There is no cure for depression, so instead he's drugged in the hopes it will negate the urge or action of repeating his actions (sometimes the drugs make one feel like a shell or trapped within their own body, so taking the fight from him could mean he was dosed with something that would make him unable to think or act strongly enough to repeat the events)

"You're a regular decorated emergency, the bruises and contusions will remind you what you did when you wake"

This happens frequently, and he's 'decorated' with previous scars. When he wakes he'll be reminded what he did to himself and likely regret it, despite knowing it's bound to happen again (or perhaps because of that).

"You've earned a place amongst the ICU's hall of fame"

Like above, implies he's a frequent visitor to the hospital for his actions.

I know it's not the traditional interpretation, nor perhaps what the artist himself has stated it to be, however this is the impression I get when I listen to the song; possibly because I've found myself in a similar situation and the words reach me in a way they may not reach others.

The Taxpayers – I Love You Like an Alcoholic Lyrics 6 years ago
"Cast that first glance... if looks gave heart attacks"

He immediately fell in love with her, albeit based on her looks

"The dangerous men in the shadows were like an audience, and even the meanest among them had a special little shine in their eyes when they saw us"

Even with their own cruelty 'the dangerous men in the shadows' felt pity for the man knowing she was the type of woman to chew men up and spit them out.

"One last kiss, I love you like an alcoholic"

He knows he's already addicted to her

"One last kiss, I love you like a statuette"

She views him as being beautiful and breakable

"One last kiss, I need you like I need a broken leg"

Even he knows she's not good for him

"Crumpled up the bus pass and tossed it in the gutter"

A physical representation of how little she cares about things

"You had those compelling magnetized eyes that you must have lost when you got older"

She recognized he had been broken before by a woman and was likely no longer 'magnetized', or drawn near, others easily because of it.

"I ain't one to jump a ship, but I absolutely knew I was six steps in when I fell into you"

She wouldn't stay because she found herself having feelings for him and felt guilt at breaking him further.

"One last kiss, I love you like a negligee"

She does not find actual relief in sex, therefore loving him like a negligee means she would find no pleasure in hurting him emotionally.

***

Basically, a song about love at first sight with a woman who toys with men's heart to relieve the stressors of her life. Upon meeting this man, though, she felt something different for him and the guilt of breaking him further than he already was made her decide to stay away - after one last kiss.
They both know they're bad for the other; on the man's side because he could tell what type of woman she usually was, and on the woman's because she knew what heartache she would bring to him if she stayed.
